Arktis was founded more than 15 years ago by a team of skilled and highly motivated engineers and entrepreneurs.

Arktis has its own in-house design & production facility and works closely with contract manufacturers. Our development team includes electrical and systems engineers, physicists, computer scientists and product developers with a strong market focus.

Dr. Ulisse Gendotti
CEO

Ulisse manages the research and development activities of Arktis, being responsible for the hardware and software engineering teams. He has also led many of the activities which Arktis has carried out for Government Agencies. Ulisse joined Arktis in 2010. His background includes particle physics, having taken over senior responsibilities for an experiment in particle physics at CERN during his Ph.D.

Ulisse manages operations and sales from Arktis’ Zurich office. In his prior role as CTO, Ulisse oversaw the development of many of our key technologies, including our work for the DARPA Sigma Program. As COO, Ulisse oversaw key field deliveries. Ulisse has a physics Masters from ETH Zurich and designed an antimatter beam during his PhD at CERN. Ulisse has been with Arktis since 2010.

Pavel has over 20 years of executive experience in the Engineering, Renewable Energy, and Mobility sectors. Pavel is helping scientists and engineers turn innovative ideas into functioning businesses with an entrepreneurial spirit. He has driven growth and innovation while ensuring sustainable business operations.

He has served as an honorary board member of non-profit foundations, specializing in organizational change and strategic development and excelling in operational and stakeholder management.

Robin Edgar Hansen is an accomplished SW Team Lead at Arktis Radiation Detectors Ltd, with a deep-rooted background in software engineering, focusing on designing and implementing resilient 24/7 software solutions. With expertise in various technologies, including Linux, C++, Python, and Java, 

Robin leads a team developing sophisticated real-time data acquisition and analysis software, including machine learning-based isotope identification. His experience spans multiple roles, from senior software engineer at Ascom to project leader at RUAG, where he developed fault-tolerant messaging services and tactical communication solutions. 

Robin's educational background includes a Master's degree in Computer Engineering from Danmarks Tekniske Universitet and a fusion nano degree from Udacity.

Konrad Stinissen is the Head of Project Execution and Engineering at Arktis Radiation Detectors Ltd. He leverages his Electro-Mechanical Engineering expertise to drive the company's innovative projects forward. 

With over six years of experience at Arktis, Konrad has held several roles, such as Quality Manager, System Engineer & Project Manager, and Development & System Engineer, showcasing his versatility and dedication to achieving excellence. 

Before his current position, Konrad worked as a Project Engineer at ZEST Innovate for almost five years, where he honed his skills in project execution and engineering design. Konrad's educational background from Thomas More Kempen and his vast experience at Arktis Radiation Detectors Ltd highlight his significant contributions to engineering and project management.

With a rich history of experience in the academic and private sectors, Marco has patented new technologies for the Oil and Gas sector. 

Before his current role, Marco worked as a Research Scientist at INFN, where he played a pivotal role in developing a proton accelerator for medical applications. He also worked as a Development Physicist at Tracerco Ltd, leading R&D projects in radiation detection technologies for non-intrusive diagnostics applicable to Oil and Gas infrastructures.

Marco holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Università degli Studi di Napoli 'Federico II', underscoring his deep commitment to leveraging scientific expertise in driving business growth and innovation.

Roland Weber
Development and Production

Roland Weber is an expert production, development, and procurement technician at Arktis Radiation Detectors. He has been working in manufacturing detectors for nuclear radiation for over a decade. 

Roland's responsibilities include planning, production, documentation, safety, and quality management. He has a strong foundation in procurement and supplier management, which has helped him significantly contribute to the selection and evaluation of suppliers and the training and development of staff. 

Roland has led the production department, certified new products, and supported R&D from prototype to mass production during his tenure at Arktis Radiation Detectors. 

Before his work here, Roland worked at Berthold Technologies, where he led the production of radiation monitoring devices and contributed to developing advanced technologies, demonstrating his comprehensive skills in the field.

He is proficient in several programming languages, such as C++, C#, HTML, JavaScript, and Python. He also knows SQL and NoSQL databases and data streaming platforms like Kafka.

Alessandro's academic background includes a Ph.D. in Elementary Particle Physics from the Max Planck Institute for Physics, followed by postdoctoral research positions at the University of Zurich and the Weizmann Institute of Science.

He has theoretical and applied physics expertise, enabling him to bridge complex scientific concepts with practical engineering solutions.

Richard (Rick) has a wealth of experience in the security domain. After retiring from Honeywell where he held the position of General Manager of three of the company’s largest sales divisions he was appointed President of MCMS, a $800M contract manufacturer sold to Plexus in 2001.

Rick later started SafeView, a company that designs and builds millimeter wave security portals in use at airports across the globe. The company was sold to L3 in 2006. He is currently co-owner of SeaPoint, a start up based in Hong Kong and China that specialises in LED lighting, digital display, and management software technology for commercial buildings, malls, and hospitality. Rowe received a BS in Engineering from the US Military Academy, a Masters in Engineering from George Washington University, and graduated from Business Executive Programs at both Harvard and Carnegie Mellon.

Rico served as Arktis’ Chairman & CEO from its incorporation in 2007 until 2019. Under Rico’s leadership, Arktis took several technologies emerging from fundamental science labs and developed products that are now deployed serving global security in countries across the globe. Rico has experience in leading high-tech development programs for customers including DARPA, DHS, AWE, and the European Commission. 

Rico has a Ph.D. from ETH Zurich, awarded for his work in dark matter detection at CERN. He is a serial entrepreneur and co-founder of Tugboat, Switzerland’s first crowd-funding platform. Rico’s work experience includes consulting for governments in security questions, strategic consulting for businesses, and technology consulting.
