Arktis appoints Richard Rowe to its board

Arktis Radiation Detectors has announced the appointment of Richard Rowe to its board of directors.

Richard (Rick) Rowe brings a wealth of experience to ARKTIS and his appointment comes at a very exciting time for the Zurich-based manufacturer of radiation detection systems. The company has recently received a contract from DARPA to develop the next generation of neutron detectors and has just completed the installation of one of its FLASH Portal Monitors at Swiss Steel where the company will use the system - originally designed for Homeland Security applications – to conduct a final check for inadvertently contaminated scrap metals headed for its furnaces. ARKTIS – which works with governments and security agencies around the world - has also been involved in a number of trials of its innovative MODES_SNM Radiation/Nuclear detection system at ports across Europe.

Richard Rowe retired from Honeywell - the US-based global technology company - in 1999 where he had held the position of General Manager of three of the company’s largest sales divisions. After leaving Honeywell, he was appointed President of MCMS, an $800M contract manufacturer sold to Plexus in 2001. Rowe later started SafeView, a company that designs and builds millimeter wave security portals in use at airports across the globe. The company was sold to L3 in 2006. Rowe is currently co-owner of SeaPoint, a start up based in Hong Kong and China that specialises in LED lighting, digital display, and management software technology for commercial buildings, malls, and hospitality. Rowe received a BS in Engineering from the US Military Academy, a Masters in Engineering from George Washington University, and graduated from Business Executive Programs at both Harvard and Carnegie Mellon. Rowe holds 10 US patents.

Rico Chandra, CEO of ARKTIS Radiation Detectors said, “We are delighted that Rick has joined our team. His proven record of developing successful organisations coupled with his thorough understanding of our technologies and the markets in which we operate will perfectly compliment the strengths of our other board members. Rick’s counsel - along with that of the rest of the team - will be invaluable as we continue to develop innovative solutions to counter the evolving threats to world security.”
